Mohit Tyagi, Senior Research Scientist, Peptide Chemistry

Aug 20, 2021

Being part of a rapidly growing organisation allows me to be involved in different types of projects, which is one of many reasons I chose to start working at RGD. What I enjoy most about everyday life at RGD is the open-mindedness and collaborative nature of my colleagues in solving scientific questions.

I work as a Senior Research Scientist within the Peptide chemistry division where I focus on custom peptide synthesis as well as providing services in the area of peptide-based drug discovery.

I obtained a PhD in carbohydrate chemistry from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in Mohali, India. After a short stay as a research associate at South Dakota State University in USA, I moved to begin postdoctoral studies at Uppsala University here in Sweden. In Uppsala, I worked on the synthesis of peptide isosteres, glycopeptides and macrocycles inspired by natural products. Before moving on to RGD I was a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Fredrik  Almqvist’s group at Umeå University in the north of Sweden, working on multi-ring fused heterocycles for development into new antibiotics/leads for neurological disorders.

Apart from work in the laboratory, I enjoy cooking delicious Indian cuisine and spending time with family and friends.
